Hi-5 (9Dec'10)

Hi-5 casts were invited to Singapore to perform for a week plus in Marina Square for Christmas season this year and public gets to watch them for free.
Apparently it is a common event for major malls in Singapore.
Other malls had Barney, Yo Gabba Gabba, Spongebob etc.
It is interesting to learn that malls actually make effort to host such events for marketing purpose and to boost retail revenue.

And of course this mommy was thrilled and excited to bring her lil bubs to watch them perform live! I have to admit I'm actually more excited than my kids seeing them in person! hahahaha

We had to queue to be able to go in the designated area to seat and watch the show.
First 50kids in line will get to sit right infront of the stage and a personal photo taking session with the casts after the show.
There were 3time slots daily~ 1pm, 4pm and 7pm.
I figured 1pm is the best timing for the kids.
And so we headed to the mall and reached there by 11:20am!
Yes, we queue like every other Singaporeans! LoL!
There were already 20kids ahead of us as the matter of fact. To think we were already 1hour plus early for the show. You would imagine how much earlier those kids came to queue!
But we had a good team planning... hehehe
Chong joined the queue first whilst both mama and I took the kids to the nearby food court for early lunch. It would be too late for the kids to have lunch after the show.

Here's Chong making use of 3G network and his HTC Desire.
Most likely reading his soccernet news :P

About half an hour before the show, we started moving into the designated sitting (on the floor) area after being issued a voucher for photo taking session with the casts.
And just before we enter the sitting area, the kids get a photoshoot in front of a Hi-5 casts banner by an official appointed photographer.
Here's the photo I've scanned into my pc :)

It's funny how awkward both of the kechik posed for the camera.
Kaye looked like some superhero ready to charge and Josh's like "duhhh...what's the big idea?" (his favourite word learnt from Donald Duck in Mickey Mouse Clubhouse shows)

While waiting for the casts to appear...

The stage

Mama's shot... first time using my Canon, don't know how to focus :P

Yay!!
They finally appeared at about 1:20pm, after sitting for about 45mins waiting for the show to start.

Let the show begin!

They performed 3songs. I didn't record the last song which was "Santa Claus is coming" cos I wasn't aware that's their last number for the show :(
But nevertheless, here are the clips. I had to break them because I have problem loading videoclips of more than 1minute and 20seconds! Takes ages to load! Anyone with solutions for me?

Knock-knock and Teddy Bear so happened to be few of Josh favourite numbers from Hi-5.
Recently, 'Santa Claus is coming' became his favourite too since Chong bought a Hi-5 CD with Christmas tracks and we played it couple of times during Xmas season when we had guests over to our place and we need some peace while dining :P

Throughout the show Josh and Kaye were like in zombie mode watching the casts singing and dancing, life. They were probably confused simply because they always see the team in TV and not in person! Other kids were like singing and boogey-ing away
but Josh stayed close to Chong while Kaye stood right in front of me and held me close.
We tried encouraging Josh to stand and dance but he refused. Sat on Chong's lap the whole time.
The girls were really pretty in person. They reminded me of those crew in Disneyland dressed up as Disney princesses, like dolls!!

End of the show

Our turn for photo taking with the casts.
And my Canon lens gave way again. I know!! First time was Josh's birthday celebration 2years back..
and this time again an important event! Shucks.. just my luck! :(
Thank goodness my trusted iPhone saved the day. And the staff who took photo for us must owned an iPhone herself judging from the lovely photos she took for us!

Mom told me she mentioned "J-boy look your girlfriend Lauren" (his favourite cast!)
and she probably heard her name being called and she turned around and carried Josh.
Boy wasn't I extremely thrilled! LoL! sipek jakun me!

Our official photo taken by the appointed photographer.
(Paid $15 for this photo and earlier photo with the casts signatures)

Mama relate to me later that Kaye actually shook hands with all the girls before photo taking.
And when we left the stage she didn't want to leave and was reaching out for Fely's hand!
I'm surprised because lately she's in anti-social mode... refusing strangers hand or being friendly with them. But i guess Hi-5's not strangers to her since well, technically she sees them everyday, through the tube :P

Overall I'm very well pleased with the whole arrangement and the event itself.
Big thank you to my dearest hubby for entertaining my request in bringing the kids to watch the show. He was on 2pm shift and thus bringing the kids there in the morning just before he headed off for work was ideal. Plus weekday I presume would be less crowded compared to a weekend queue. Chong left right after the show ended and unfortunately could not stay for the photo taking hence he wasn't in the pictures :(
But nonetheless, it was really fun watching and singing along with the casts.
The whole vibe were really awesome and it was a huge turnout all around the atrium area where the stage was. Bet every single shows there would be a huge crowd. To think it's only a weekday.
And best of all, it's free!! (cept for the $15 paid for the photos)
Otherwise, it couldn't be any better. The queue was painless considering we had lunch at the foodcourt and after that mama took over queueing while I'm still tending to the kids with their lunch and Chong's turn of having his lunch.
And the show was less than half and hour which was good enough. Any longer and I think the kids will get restless. 45mins waiting in front of the stage area and both Josh and Kaye were already fussing around and wanted to walk away from our seating slot.
I compared to Hi-5 concert which they do host once a year or once in 2years, that would cost us much much more and I don't think there would be any photo taking sessions with the casts.
A concert duration would be much longer and doubt Josh could even last that long in the hall, let alone Kaye.
So overall... I'm very very thrilled that we get to watch the live show!!!
