Josh had a nasty fall on Monday night, about 9plus.
He suddenly stood up on the edge of the bed and fell backwards...
if you can imagine a 'mat rocker' throwing himself off the stage,
backwards, arms spread wide... onto the mad audience...
well, except the part that this one without audience...
just hard marbled floor...
It was definitely the worst he had... and there was a huge bump at the back of his left side head immediately after the fall.
We can feel it with our palm as we rub it.
We decided to monitor him first before taking any further actions, like bringing him to the doc.
By 4am I told Chong it's time for us to bring him to the hospital, as he was struggling to sleep.
Each time he lie down, and when he wanted to turn to his left side, he'd wake up and cry, and then he'll sit upright and put his hand on his left ear,
as if he's telling us it's painful there.
So off we go... to Mount Alvernia ( the hospital that most likely I'll be delivering #2 at)
Reached there about 5am, A&E dept.
After a sloooooowwww draggy registering and admission process...
(mainlyto confirm the type of room we're choosing... it's all about room room room... that's their main source of earning obviously. It's annoying and frustrating.. here we are, worried sick parents, and there they talk about the rates and rates and rooms and blah blah blah..)
we get to finally see the doctor ... and he offered X-ray for josh.
In my mind I'm like... screw the X-ray... he's got a freakin huge bump on the head and X-ray ain't giving me peace of mind at all!
So I asked if there's a thorough scan, as we have hospital plan for Josh,
thennnnn... he suggested a CT brain scan.
(duno wat CT stands for!! i just know of MRI, learn from Grey's Anatomy!! hehehe)
one of the scan result..The bump as you can see.. F-R-E-A-K-Y!!
that's why we decided to send him to the hospital to get some scanning done on his head..
cause the size of the bump as we feel it... it's almost the size of my palm!
Although he didn't show any symptoms of vomitting,
we needed some kind of assurance... and since Josh's covered with hospital plan,
we figured might as well make use of it...
Thank goodness it's only the bump... and hairline crack on the skull,
but the neuro surgeon assured us nothin to worry about... it'll heal by itself..
no sign of brain damage or blood clot or internal bleeding watsoever in the brain.

but our fren enjoyed himself lah.... smelling my 'bau' all the way while he sleeps..

rescue-ed...Overall, it was indeed an experience for 3 of us.
Scary as it was initially... turned out, like as if we're vacationing somewhere!
Definitely for Josh, he was like all chirpy and jumpy after a good an hour plus nap when we first checked into his room.
There's Mickey and friends posters everywhere at the paedetric ward...
he probably thought it's some kind of playground there.
On and off he's reminded of the pain on his head whenever he lie down,
but the colourful surrounding and an LCD tv in front of his bed got the better of him!
Same goes to papa, he's like on some mini vacation...
He seemed to like stayin in hospitals..hotels... weirdo huh?
He'd be all excited looking at the menu... the type of room....
(I told him if only I could transfer my baby bump to him,
he can jolly well deliver in this hospital on my behalf!!)
We chose the one bedded room initially but there wasn't any left when we arrived, so we were settled in an empty double bedded room...
In the end, they convert our room to one bedded and change the other cot bed to an adult bed.
Lucky for Chong, he gets to relax on the bed,
instead of a pathetic cushioned chair he had earlier!
Plus, there's the LCD tv in front of his bed as well! and a headphone!!
It just gets better and better! hehehe
And there was breakfast, lunch, tea and dinner for both the kid and one parent..
Quite frankly, at the end of the day,
instead of a horific ordeal I initially thought of,
turned out, we pretty much enjoyed how the day turned out to be!
We didn't get any sleep at all, compared to Josh who managed few naps throughout his stay,
nevertheless, it was rather relaxing and enjoyable..
mainly because of the scan result and that Josh is alright.
At 7pm, the neuro surgeon came back to access Josh another time before discharging him,
he assured us, besides the hairline crack on the skull,
there's nothin much for us to worry about.
He added that the bump will get bigger, but it's part of healing process.
And that it'll turn watery kind of feeling, but don't try using needle to poke and drain out watever discharge you'd think there is inside!
(both Chong and I felt it with our fingers just now, it's like some kind of water pocket instead of a hard bump!!)
But in terms of internal bleeding occuring in the next few days, or blood clot..
chances of it occuring are remote....
He explain that compared to old people, babies brains are still growing so it won't happen if it doesn't within 24hrs.
As for the elderly, their brains are shrinking... so we have to monitor longer, sometimes months before blood cloot or internal bleeding suddenly or slowly occurring...
so much for medical lesson huh?
So finally doc gave us green light to go...
and by 8pm we're done checking out, head home... and life's back to normal :))
Josh's is alright, as of today..

Still his chirpy bubbly, 'hypernut case' self...
and we still can't stop him from standing up on the bed.. just more cautious now...
if only we have that hospital gigantic cot bed, that'll be awesome!
Oh btw, I thought this is funny...

a truck Yo!
and look what he turned out to be??!!

so we're counting on josh growing up to be...
a Paeditrician... or Gyneachologist?!?!
those 2 occupations earns heaps in spore!!
damn good business I tell you!! :P
